The city of Hanoi is dirty, full of smog; and, honestly, very boring. Most tourists wandering around the city will, at some point, end up taking pictures of the meandering tracks, one of the few picture-worthy places.
Our first day of exploring Phú Quốc island. It can be hard to find a nice part of the beach that isn’t taken over by resorts and masses of tourists but we came at a quiet time and found this idyllic swing.
The Elephant Falls near Dalat can be seen from the top, but to really get a great view, you have to take a muddy, dangerous hike down the mountain.
Hoa Lư, a small place near Ninh Bình city, is the ancient capital of Vietnam. We walked around the free part and took a break at the burning rice fields next to the temple.
The Acropolis of Athens, built on the city’s highest point, is visible from many viewpoints around the city. You can choose to pay € 20 to see the old ruins up close, but we decided to explore the viewpoints instead. „I’d rather live in a cave with a view of a palace than live in a palace with a view of a cave.“ (Karl Pilkington)
Prague’s abandoned train station in Žižkov, partially overgrown and buildings sound like they are about to fall down when the wind picks up. A nice, quiet area to walk around for a while on a sunny day.
Barrandovské terasy, an abondoned restaurant on a hill with a great view of Prague. Unfortunately, the building itself is not accessible.
In short walking distance from the touristic center of Prague, the steep Petřín hill is located. On one of this summer’s last warm days, we climbed up and found the top to be full of flowers in full bloom.
View from Skalka, a park on a steep hill next to Kotlářka tram stop, a little walk from our home in Prague.
We spent one night in Šárka-Lysolaje park in Prague. It’s not too far from the center but it’s still very quiet and we found the perfect spot to set up the tent.
National Museum next to Royal Palace, Phnom Penh. The small park next to it (Preah Ang Eng) offers a good view for sunset.
Tina at the beach during sunset on Siquijor island (the Philippines). Our hostel was located right on this beach.
The Chocolate Hills are a range of small humps in the landscape. In this time of year, it looks nice but in the dry season they should turn brown, making it look like a land full of giant bonbons (hence the name). We saw them from a viewpoint in the town of Carmen (Bohol island).
We took a ferry from Manila to Cebu as it was cheaper than a plane and it seemed to be more comfortable. The boat ride took over 27 hours after a 5-hour wait in the terminal.
We had to endure a lot of rain during the wet season. It starts pouring down very sudden, turning streets into rivers.
Ubud’s Monkey Forest – This monkey stole a tourist’s water bottle but found a clump of ice instead of water. It carefully started licking this unknown substance.
